Hi,

I own a 2000 Frontera and have just returned from a great Fraser Island trip. All went well but my car needs at least a 500 mm lift to make life more pleasant.

Can anyone point me in the right direction as to where in Brisbane I might get this done, what is involved and if anyone has an idea of what the cost is.

Thanks for your help.

PS Fraser is brilliant.

LOL! Been there with my old Frontera. They are beasts in the sand though.

The come from the factory riding very low and the bash plates, cross members and fuel tank ground hey.

I fitted a series 2000 set of springs in the rear which gave a 65mm lift and then wound the front up. The springs are stiffer and ride well when loaded but are a little on the stiff side when empty. The Series 2000 shocks are a waste of money though it may be better to buy some other type of shock to match. Springs cost be about $200 or $250 from TJM - or something like that, shocks were about $120ea I think.

Thanks for the info. Please forgive my typo in my original question. I am after at least 50mm of lift.

Cheers

Brian,
I had a set of "King" springs fitted yesterday plus new shocks.
Total cost to supply, fit, wind up front torsion bar and do a wheel alingnment was $700. in Penrith NSW.
Go onto the Kings web site in Qld, they will tell you the best people to supply and fit in your area.
I have only had a short drive so can not comment on the ride yet but I now have about 55mm of extra clearance
Regards Vince

Brian,

Check this site out, http://www.geocities.com/ozzuzu/.

There are a number of Frontera owners that have had 75mm and 100mm lifts applied to their vehicles. One even has a 454 Chev V8 in their 99 Frontera!

Contact details for some of the owners are provided on the site.

I put the TJM 2000 series on my 2002 Frontera and got an extra 70mm on the rear and 50mm on the front. (Front was achieved as said by others by winding the torsion bar up.) A bit bumpy unless the car is loaded. Cost about $700.
Still looking for a Snorkel if you see one and a way of improving petrol consumption. The latter is my only complaint.
I met a lady in Newcastle who told me she and her husband had been round Oz twice and up the centre and the only change they made was suspention and better front seats. ( She was a lady built for comfort.) Richard and Leonie, The grey nomads.

Hi Guys,

Thanks for the info. I know what I have to do now. Can't help on the snorkel front and like you I feel the pinch a bit with fuel. I must admit though, the car has heaps of power and is pretty solid and I am really happy with it.

Thanks again.

Hi,

Guys thanks for the information, I own a 99 Frontera and am going to get King Springs & new shocks fitted next week. I need a snorkel too, I am toying with the idea of a modified one off a similar vintage V6 Rodeo or Jackaroo.
