towing hitches - ORAC and/or TREG

Submitted: Friday, Mar 22, 2002 at 00:00

Fabian

Hi there,

I am looking for a local and reputable supplier in the ACT for ORAC or TREG hitches for my 4WD trailer, which currently has the standard towball arrangement. While this has worked well so far (trip to Fraser Is, Lamington and Barrington tops) I am planning to go on rougher tracks.

Any suggestions?

Also, any thoughts on pro/cons when choosing between ORAC and TREG?

Any reply would be much appreciated.

Fabian

The main difference is that the orca is a true universal coupling with 360 degrees articulation in all directions.Have a look at the O'briens trailer site at http://www.obrienstrailers.com.au/default.html The coupling is found in accessories.

The treg on the other hand has a limitation in the vertical movement of 23 degrees up or down. The treg can be viewed on the tregtrailers site at http://www.tregtrailers.com.au/couplings.htm

I have had a treg for 9 years & have not had any trouble with it. Have dropped down some vertical creek crossing at The Cape also.

If you contact the maker on his website I'm sure he will tell you were you can buy one in your area.
