G'Day Mick, I've got a LC100 4.5 petrol. Yes it is heavy on fuel, but I believe it evens out in time. The scheduled services are Petrol 10,000 K's, Diesel 5,000K's under "normal" conditions. If you are under severe or towing conditions then it's Petrol 5,000 K's and Diesel 2,500 K's. If you don't worry about scheduled service then I'm told the diesel won't last any longer than the petrol engine in the same circumstances and the diesel engine will be more expensive to recon. I guess it come down to how long you want to keep the vehicle and what resale value you expect in return. I believe the savings made by fewer services on the petrol offset the higher fuel consumption and I haven't come across a TD that can match the petrol for performance. Hope this helps. Cheers. PS I'm also told to LC100is slightly better on petrol than the LC80.
