A few years back I bought a Hitachi MMP-501 GPS. I have since learnt that Hitachi have got out of the GPS market and have discontinued support of this device. So the question is are there any maps out there that can be bought and loaded to update to current versions.
The GPS runs on a windows CE platform with Sensis / Destinator maps.
Any advise as to what maps are available and how to load them would be appreciated.
I really don't want to get rid of this GPS as it has good easy functionality with large easy to see details (good for older eyes) - also it cost me nearly a $1000 when I bought it.

I am only guessing but if it runs Windows CE it should be able to run the Hema maps with OziExplorer CE.

Some time ago, I bought then current Kogan GPS that had Igo maps and a SD card. With help from a man from WA, I managed to get it all working.

Hopefully, it will be as simple for you to modify to your needs.

Good luck

Thanks DW,

I will look into your suggestion. My main concern is that I will completely stuff it up and end up with a useless piece of junk from what I have found to be a reliable tool. My only problem with it is the out dated maps but if it comes to it I can manage those most of the time.

If you have an SD card in the GPS, copy its contents to either hard drive and/or another SD card. Having a second SD card allows you to 'fiddle' to attempt to get it correct and then the original is not in danger.
