Redarc <span class="highlight">battery</span> isolator ( dual <span class="highlight">battery</span> ) Failure

Greetings guys - as the topic suggests - my REDARC duel battery isolator has failed - left the car radio on over night by accident - by morning - battery drained - not enough voltage to start car - so hit the momentary switch to get a jump from second battery - No distinct click from isolator - closer inspection and i see the control module looks like it swolen ( and cold so must have swolen over night due to voltage drop ???? )

anyway question is , is the controller module ( little black box ) available for sale ? or do i have to buy the whole isolator again ??

Hi BB, "Swollen" doesn't sound good!

How old is it? All those I have seen have a translucent box.

Anyway, you could give Redarc a call on 08 8322 4848. They seem top handle problems pretty well.

They all seem to swell a little with age I think its a heat thing the black ones are quite old as they have been opaque for a while now
The momentry switch should bypass the control unit so it is most likely the main solinoid the radio should not draw enough to overheat it
Have had one fail it was mounted on the engine have mounted the replacement on the inner guard away from any heat source and vibration

I recently brought an isolator at JAS Oceania for about $50 . Working fine .

As others have said contact Redarc, I had problems with mine they asked that I send it down and days later I received a new one in the mail. All it cost me was postage down.
