Centre Diff Lock

HELP!!! need some advice on Centre Diff lock for 80 series landcruiser (diesel)
globe works!
How can I simulate operation of centre diff lock without damaging the" LOVED ONE"
Auto Electrian thinks it's bad earth/ground problem
Has anyone else had similar (where do I start???????)
At the moment only a visitor!!
If someone can fix I'LL join the club

Not sure what your problem is, the warning globe, or the centre diff itself?

If you wanted to test you could drop the drive shafts off? Lot of nasties lurk on the top of tojo trannies, not hard for a wire to break, or pull out of socket.

Thats better than jacking the car up on stands & driving OFF slowly as was suggested to me by someone in the game, I'll give it a go.

Do you know what it could be,I have talked to 3 others with 80 series ALL have same problem e.g. No light on dash, not sure if centre diff lock works!

Ok, could be the switch on the transfer that is faulty, or if it isnt locking at all, it could be the motor, relay box or wiring related.
Start by locking the ctr diff and with a front wheel jacked off the ground,and the tranny in neutral, see if it will turn round and round, or if it is locked via the ctr diff.
