Steve and Deb

Just wondering if anyone else has has a whining noise problem in there V8 transfer box. Mine was quite prominent. Landrover have replaced it but it still whines but not quite as bad. Also they "landrover" cant seem to work out the surging problem with the cruise control they say its not electrical after replacing the engine management chip. Any feedback would be great. Thanks Steve and Deb

Steve and Deb, I personally have a TD5, and have not heard any transfer case whine. Clunk, however, is very evident when you remove and reapply power, such as in traffic.

When is the cruise control surging? Is it on the flat, or only when travelling downhill? If travelling downhill, it's normal, as the system doesn't know what to do if the vehicle holds the set speed by itself. The cruise will accelerate and deccelerate continually, causing a surging effect. If this is not when the problem is occurring, I'd suggest that you take your local dealer for a ride and show him, and just keep hammering them until they fix it! Bill
