ID for the make and model of the stove would be a good idea here - other owners could comment then - I'm simply assuming that if it is a "plumbed in" stove then it will have the thermocouple pin - by each burner you have the insulated piezo igniter (ignition spark shoots out from that one, onto the burner) - commonly, another plain pin (or whatever) that actually sits in the gas flame should be somewhere around the ring. I have 4 burners on my Smev cooktop and one often plays up while the other 3 never do (sigh). I pulled that particular burner's top off and fiddled about with the thermocouple pin etc - could find nothing wrong - put it back together and it worked well for quite a while (sigh x 2). I have not been right in under the cooktop yet because it looks far too difficult to get into, for now :-o).
