Hi,

I've had trouble with my tacho on the diesel. It's located on the passenger side towards the top on the bellhousing above the flywheel teeth. it's bit of a pain to access.
The gearbox was removed before i aquired the vehicle and the wiring wasn't replaced in the correct position. it may be damaged.
I found i could access the wiring by removing the coverplates above the gearbox.

The tacho only comes on mostly when it rains.

The problem with mine when this happened was dry joints on the tacho PCB, around the pillars supporting it. Not too hard to get it out, but you need to unscrew the speedo cable to pull out the panel far enough to work on it. Good luck!

Cheers

hey champ,
I had similar probs with mine after having the gearbox reco'd. seems when they put it back in. They had actually pinned the wire near the bell housing on the passenger side and after about a week, the flex in the g'box finall cut through it. So that was my prob, was rather difficult to remove and reinstall new one too with the guards there.
Hope that is of some help.

Go the 60!!!
Brighty.
