Nigel

I'm in the market for a water resistant 12v fluro light. Are there any brands that deserve more consideration that most? Thanks

G'day Nigel, ARLEC make quite a good unit for around the $50 mark. You can get them at all "Super Cheap" Auto shops or similar auto accesories franchise. Whatever you do, dont go to a camping shop for one as you end up paying nearly twice as much. I have been running a couple of Arlecs for a while and am quite happy with them. Enjoy the bush.

I use 2 versalites and they are exceptional. However I believe that the 'burnbrite' which is made in QLD may be better still as I think it may put out more light at same current.
At the end of the day, it is the quality of the electronics and not the wattage of the tube that counts - and this is what you end up paying for.
Current use for the versalit is 1 amp and I use 17AH sealed lead acid batteries which can be shifted around to suit the position of the light. These batteries are about $55.00 from the right outlet and have never let me down.
Price varies from outlets. I think that under $80.00 should be the most that you would need to pay.

I have a couple of thecheaper type, and they are OK but my WA friends use a unit from the 12V shop in Perth which is a lot brighter. No idea of cost
