Make sure the model you are considering is not the Transformer Prime, as the GPS functionality is very poor to say the least (I understand is is because of its metal case).

Barry : Bang for your bucks the asus ft300 transformer would be hard to beat inc ipad !!!!....from H/Norman you can get 3G or wifi but $ 100 difference in price .
most other store's I'v look at are only wifi . check out some of the reviews around .
Quad-core processor, Androidâ„¢ 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich .
no problems GPS with the ft300 plastic body .

asus tf300 tablet transformer

when Docked with key board, USB & SD card ports ,mini sd card on tablet , A lot of the new model tabet's dont have.
extends battery life up to 15hr ..questionable .

I bought an ASUS transformer Pad (with 3G) about 2 months ago when it was first released - I think this is the model you'd be considering. It works very well, but when you hook the tablet onto the keyboard it looks and feels the same as the old netbooks.

One warning - it needs 11Volts to charge. It does not charge from a 5V USB port. ASUS supply an 11V plugpack and USB cable, but I also bought a car charger off EBay which puts out 11V and works OK. The battery life is reasonable when the keyboard is hooked up as the keyboard contains a supplementary battery which carges the tablet when the tablet is hooked up to the keyboard.

I haven't used Oziexplorer on it yet. But its great when you travel to run the internet/email off a $180 Next G Simcard which gives you 12Gig over 12 months. I expect when you go overseas, it would be cheaper for you to buy a data SIM card over there rather than use a Telstra one at exhorbitant rates.

Have a look at the video reviews in Youtube before you buy. I found them helpful in making my decision to move away from the Ipad.

I haven't formally tested it - I haven't run it flat because I hook it up to its charger when I'm not using it. I guess it depends on what you're doing but I'd estimate you'd stuggle to get more than 10 hours when the keyboard is connected. Battery life seems to be not as good as the Ipad2 I owned before.
