Hi everyone,
We're planning a 2-week wildflower trip through WA's midwest in late September. Planning on going
Perth -> Meeka -> Mt Augustus ->
Kennedy Range ->
Monkey Mia (for the kids) ->
Perth via Three Springs, Coorow, etc.
Does anyone have particular recommended
places for overnight stops, walks, etc that are outside of the main tourist areas? We're planning to stop overnight at
Walga Rock on the way to Meeka (fond memories of stopping there on family trips a few decades ago).
We have 2 kids under 5 yrs old, so nothing too strenuous please!
Cheers,
Tristan

If you want to see the Wreath flowers (almost guaranteed) about 65 kms north of
Wubin, on the Gt Nthn Hwy, turn right into Goodlands Rd and they will be about 10 kms along.

Fantastic! THanks for
the tip.
We had a survey crew near
Cue a few weeks back and they got drenched, so we're looking forward to a good wildflower season through there.

If you are going
Perth -
Dalwallinu, turn off to Kalannie and get onto Goodlands road that way then just follow the road to the gt Northern H'way. You also, sort of, dont have to backtrack.
You could also stop at Ettabutting rock. [Ithink that is the name, havn't got my maps with me.] Any way it is the 6th road/cross road you come to the road is named after
the rock - or was. Turn right and at the end follow the track that from memory bears slightly left. There should be plenty of orchids etc. in the bush on top of
the rock as they have had reasonable rains. You can
camp there and a couple of pools for the kids to mess about in.- Easier during the week tho.

Hi Tony,
Was that the 6th road after turning onto the
Dalwallinu-Kalannie road or after turning onto the Goodlands road in Kalannie?

Just got my map book out. The turnoff you want is actually at
Pithara about 12 odd km before
Dalwallinu.
The rock I was thinking of is
Petrudor rock NOT Ettabutting rock [that what happems at midnight] and as mentioned, it is the 6th road/cross road on the right before Kalannie - on the
Pithara Kalannie road.
You can also go via
Dalwallinu. Then it is the 5th road on the Dally - Kalannie road.
Make sense???

Thanks Tony - have found it on the map. There's a location for it in this website too.
