Suggestions!!! Bubs sleeping in campervan

Submitted: Tuesday, Jul 01, 2003 at 22:27

Andrew

Here's a different question.

When our trip gets here later in the year, we'll be travelling with a campervan, pull out ends for beds, type.

Our young bloke will be 21 months old, and we don't won't him to roll out of the bed and hit the floor. (Might wake me up)lol

Can anyone suggest a way of securing him in the bed of an evening without this problem developing.

No velcro jokes!!

cheers

I know Jayco have a harness net that fits at the ends of the bed in their latest model just to stop young ones from rolling off in the middle of the nite.

gday andrew.
if you go to woolys/kmart the sell plastic guard rails you slip between the matress
and the floor of the bed they are extendable and only about $30.
we have one at home that we used when we went away.
bubby never fell out.
if that fails unfortuanutly you will have no choice but to use velcro.
also good to hold stubby holders to while bubs is awake.looking foward to september(landcruiser park/fraser island)

Yup. they are around 3ft long, and just fit betweeen materess and the the bed base. slide under materess, and they have a mesh side, so kid cant really roll out.

20mths I'd be more worried about him climbing OVER the edge?

Travel cot maybe crappy comfort wise, but would be safer.

Another option is a product called 'Safe T Sleep'. Suitable for up to 3 years old we have used it travelling (light and compact) and had no problems, especially on a boat where they might fall out of the bunk. I think about $85 but someone with some sewing skills could knock one up pretty easily. http://www.safetsleep.com

Just be sure to secure ALL of the elastics under the bed floor. I was a bit slack one night and half did the job; only to hear no.2 daughter slip out onto the ground still encased in her sleeping bag about midnight. Luckily the ground was soft and no damage done.Still a good campfire story to this day.
