Walgett is a town in north-central New South Wales, located at the junction of the Barwon and Namoi rivers and near the junction of the Kamilaroi and Castlereagh Highway. It has a population 2,300 people (as of June 2008) and is a regional hub for the wool, wheat and cotton industries. It is also the gateway to the New South Wales opal fields.
