Orientation 132°. This Airstrip is located on Douglas Station and is on private property,From Hayes Creek Inn head North 6Km, Turn left onto Dorat Rd, head west for 1.7Km turn left 150m at Douglas Rd to the lo.cked ga.te. Permission must be obtained and must book a tour with Doc ,Ph 08 8978 2479
In the early hours of the morning of 14 August 1943, Japanese aircraft dropped bombs near the southern end of the taxiway at Long airfield.
At 00.25 am on 15 September 1943, Japanese aircraft dropped bombs at Long airfield in the
Northern Territory. A weapons carrier attached to 14 Mobile Works Squadron (1MWS) RAAF was slightly damaged during the bombing raid. The Officer's Mess was totally destroyed by a direct hit from an anti-personnel bomb. An unexploded bomb was later found at the southern end of the taxiway.
