Description of Geosurveys Hill
Geosurveys Hill is a rare rock covered hill in the very remote
Simpson Desert and was first discovered by Reg Sprigg. While making the first South - North motorised crossing of
the Simpson Desert in September 1964, Reg and his family Climbed to the top of this hill and erected a stone cairn, that is still there today. Reg named the hill "Geosurveys Hill" in honour of his company, Geosurveys
Australia, as a tribute to his company's pioneering work in th
Simpson Desert. This very isolated location in the very remote
Simpson Desert only sees on average 1 group of very keen and dedicated four wheel drivers per year.
