-----
Hungerford is located on the Queensland/
New South Wales border and was named after pioneer pastoralist Thomas Hungerford. The Royal Mail Hotel was built in 1873 and is still in use today. The Royal Mail was originally a staging post for Cobb & Co.
Currawinya National Park is only a few kilometres away, following the old Cobb & Co route. This is an area of prolific birdlife, with over 200 species. Hungerford holds a bi-annual field day, with the next one being in June 2007. This is an event not to be missed.
