Description of Denham
Beginning as a pearling settlement called Freshwater Camp, Denham was gazetted as a town by the WA Government in May 1898. Today as Shark Bay's commercial centre, Denham offers a range of accomodation, restaurants, shops and the Shark Bay Visitors center where you can get all up to date information and make booking for holiday activities and accomodation. Other activities include safe swimming, beaches,
tours and
fishing cruises, recreational and service jetties, camel rides and the nearby Ocean Park oceanarium and little lagoon picnic or
fishing spot. For children a skate board park and mini golf course are located near Denham's Oval with several parks offering playground facilities. A safe beach is located in front of the Denham boulevard, however great swimming and snorkeling spots are scattererd throughout the Bay. Denham is the closest town to famous
Monkey Mia.
