 Description of Drummond Cove

Up until quite recently Drummond Cove was a small quiet fishing village, owing its existence to the crayfishing fleet that could moor inside the protective reef just off shore. The beaches are lovely and long with white sandy water’s edge visible for miles. There is plenty of snorkelling, diving and fishing to do, along with some of the best surfing and wind-surfing on the west coast just south of the beach access points.
What was once a fishing village is now a substantial suburb of the regional hub, Geraldton. While the area is not as picturesque as it once was it is still a great place to access the beach for some good beach fun. The sand can be very soft at times and the south westerly wind will come in about 10am in the summer, but the drive down the beach is worth it if you get there nice and early. If you pick the right time of year you could never leave the beach, but the further into summer the less time you will have before the wind comes in.
If the tide is too high, or you're not too happy in sand there are also tracks along the rear of the dunes allowing easier travel down the beach but you may have to walk over the dunes for beach access.
