Description of Dundas
Dundas is an old goldfields townsite approximately 21kms south of
Norseman. It was officially appointed in 1895 and derives its name from its location being at the southern end of the Dundas Hills.
The Dundas Hills were named by Surveyor General J S Roe in 1848 after Captain Dundas of the Royal Navy ship H M S Tagus. The Aboriginal name for the area is which the townsite is situated is known as "Nucaniu" or "Neucaniu".
