Description of Nangar National Park
The horseshoe-shaped red silt-stone cliff-lines of the Nangar-Murga range are a landmark of the central west's rolling plains. The rocky slopes running down to Terrara Creek and rich forests form an important wildlife refuge in a landscape that has been largely cleared.
Camping is available at Terrara Creek 4.5 km into the park along Terrara Creek trail. Walks along the escarpment offer views out over patchwork farmland dotted with rocky remnants of natural bushland. Some areas of the park are accessible by 2WD during dry periods, but 4WD is recommended for reaching Mt Nangar lookout and in wet
weather.
Access 50 km west of
Orange. Best access is
via the Eugowra-
Orange road (turn off 10 km from Eugowra).
