Description of Hand Pump Southern End

On the east side of the track. Although working most times, not to be relied upon.
In June 2007 and July, 2008, the water at the pump was rancid. Emergency use only and needs boiling before drinking.
The handpump area provideds a very nice place to camp beneath a grove of white truncked gumtrees. The area is situated by the main access track running north-south through the park and is clearly signposted. There are normally more than a few camels to be found wandering about the area and plenty of firewood about. The area is surrounded by a sea of native grass a rare relief from the spinifex. The main track into Rudall is sandy and often badly corrugated. It is the main thoroughfare for the local peoples travelling north to Telfor and between Punmu and Parrngurr. The water at this southern handpump is of very poor quality (July 2008).
