Lichen is made up of a fungus and an algae growing together in a symbiotic relationship. There are 3 basic forms; fruticose, crustose and foliose. Lichens play an important role in breaking down rocks to form soil, and in arid areas they protect soil surfaces from erosion.
The main flower colour is other. Found coating rocks, soil and tree branches.
Have been used to provide pigments for dyeing cloth, some have medicinal uses.
