Where do u get Vroom Vroom from?
Last time I checked u could take renters interstate..... But I'll stand corrected.

They are a Sydney car rental agency, all i did was Google and wrote to the little box that came on screen. I could be wrong, so it will pay for Michael m26 to be sure.

I reckon you would be battling to go to Narooma, Lakes entrance, Mt Gambier to Adelaide. Then Pt Augusta, Ceduna to Perth in 8 days.

I would be taking a shorter route or taking longer time.

By sleeping in the car you would save $80 - $120 per night, over 8 nights maybe $1000 saved. Take the wagon if you don't mind smelling a bit by the time you get there.

For a fee I reckon you would be able to get a shower at many of the road houses on the Nullabor. Might help with the 'smell'

I was thinking, eden, then near melbourne day 2, great ocean rd, day 3, adelaide 4, portagutta 5, ceduna 6, then 3 days to perth? Any views on this long?

Adelaide to Pt Augusta is only 4 hours, Adelaide to Ceduna is an easy 1 day drive for 2 drivers.

I have just come back from Queensland, we came down the Birdsville track to Marree and down the Flinders rangers to Port Augusta stopped overnight at Port Augusta and camped just outside of Ceduna, from there we headed across and stopped at Cocklebiddy, the showers were great and the food at the pub was tasty I had the mixed grill with lambs fry, hadn't had a mixed grill with lambs fry since my mum passed away. Any way we had no problem getting accommodation coming over the Nullarbor. We came down the Highway once we left Norseman as it was raining and we didn't want to get stuck up a gum tree or in a bog. but if you have two drivers you shouldn't have two many hassles but I would take the wagon as it will save you money on accommodation. that is my two bobs worth. the Motel room at Cocklebiddy was only about $110 and well worth it just for the shower, after two days you need it, lol . You should have a great trip

Thanks for that. I have to work out extra fuel cost of a station wagon versus a small 4 cylinder as the difference may not be much. Any websites you know for that to calculate? How long from Ceduna to Perth did it take you? Thanks.

we spent three days coming across but we were tenting the trip so we would camp a couple of nights and cook our own meals, then on the third night, we would book into a motel or caravan park depending on what time we called it quits for the day and where we were. In the pathfinder it took us 13o litres of fuel from Ceduna to Norseman, and we sat on around the 110kl/p/hr. a four cylinder wagon shouldn't use much more fuel that a sedan. Once we hit Norseman which was about 10:30am we made the decision to head straight for home, as we had been on the road for two and a half weeks, and looking for our wives and families. When we left Norseman we were in Perth by 7.45pm. I hope this is of some use to you. have a great trip.

Thanks for that and will follow up. Waiting on news for car relocators for those dates, no guarantee though. Thanks again. But will i need to buy jerry cans to carry petrol when crossing from perth to ceduna, many people suggest this. I know for water will do but petrol too. rgds

I carried three Jerry cans on the roof rack with diesel in them and that was enough for us to cross from Ceduna to Norseman mind you we were running on fumes when we got to Norseman, the fuel low light came on when we were about 35 kilometres out of Norseman, we also had our water supply on board in two twenty litre water containers, and that was enough for my brother and myself, I just checked my fuel book and it appears we put twenty litres in at Cocklebiddy.at a $1.85.I hope this is of some use to you

Thanks, So if driving from Ceduna to Perth, which towns or stops would you recommend are best to stay at. Even though you didnt stay there. Alternatively, the places you camped at, are they caravan/national parks

Maybe I can stay there, if I get a station wagon.

Hi Michael,
we found that nearly all the fuel stops had some sort of accommodation attached to them either caravan parks or some kind of donger or motel style accommodation, when we camped I just looked for a dirt road heading away from the coast and just drove down that until I found some where to pitch the tent, some where you get some relief from the wind if it is blowing, one spot I found you needed a 4x4 to get into and out of, great sunrise photos the next morning,, that was just past the border village, I don't know if it had a name or not, the following night we were at Cocklebiddy, as I said earlier we were taking our time and not in to much of a hurry until we hit Norseman

That's a great little site, and might suit a lot of peoples travel needs.
Great for a bit of a cheap driving trip somewhere different, then catch a train or cheap flight home.

It's about 5000k's, so about 600k's per day, you won't see much.

I reckon it equates to about 4500k..thats 500 a day or about 6/7 hrs
per day. Sure it can be done, even in daylight hours, but it is a drive..eat ..sleep deal, isn't it ?
I'm not across your motives for such a journey, but it certainly isn't
a sightseeing trip, but, hey, your choice..
Check out the option of buying Travel Insurance as opposed to paying the high daily extra that Hire Car mobs charge to reduce
the excess...or you can punt it & not cover that risk.

Thanks, to your advice, very kind of you, i am thinking to make it longer, one way only and fly back. Could be the go, best to take in the unique scenery. along the way. Have to figure out how to cut down on one way rental charge for driveback if i cant get a one way, relocation from moova.com.
