Any ideas on the hiclone product. They say 20% fuel saving and 15% more power in the advert. Are they dreaming or what.

You only get the full 20% if you fit a polariser from a group A VK Brock commadore as well.

Do an Archive search. D-Jack put two in his Jackaroo recently and had lots of detail on his experience. I think he is currently emptuing his fuel tank so he can see if it made any difference. We all await his feedback with interest!

John,
If it were true and they did as they say, almost everyone on this forum would have them, but they don't. Search through archives, you'll see the consensus

They are not dreaming .They are very shrewd marketeers who can convince thousands of motorists to part with up to $300 apiece for something that is stamped out of thin steel and assembled for a few dollars probably in a 3rd world country.
They sell them by using pseudo scientific mumbo jumbo combined with a big commission to the salesman.
Motorists who constantly feel ripped off at the bowser are only too willing to listen.
I had one in my petrol landcruiser when I purchased it and noticed no difference in either power or economy when I removed it.

I tried one with my TB42. My advice (based on experience) would be that the state of tune of your motor and your driving style will have more influence over fuel economy than a Hiclone . . . all things being equal.

I put one in a 4.5 patrol, no difference, fortunately they refunded my money no questions asked.

John, I heard my name mentioned a little earlier. I fitted two hiclones (they don't deserve a capital 'H' yet!) to my TD 1999 Jackaroo, and power wise they haven't made a scrap of difference. I timed myself up acertain hill 3 times and got the same time each run. I had them installed, did the same run the same day in the same conditinos (wind/heat/tyre pressure/roof rack resistance) and they did not make a scrap of difference. Just waiting to see what they do economy wise.

Only problem is that I just put 5/30 oil in the Jack and I am anticipating that will make a huge difference (after just finding out the dealer mechanic put 20/50 in). Won't know for sure until probably 3rd oil change, but that's probably a few weeks away yet.

Then I will have to get new economy figures with the hiclones in, then remove them and re-assess. Pain, but I've negotiated a 60day warranty period, so should be sweet. Me thinks at the moment I will swap the pieces of tin for my $320 back. Don't think I'll be putting the pretty sticker they gave me with the hiclones on my car just yet!

Regards,
D-Jack
