Just changed all the hoses on the Deefer along with a new radiator,.. everything was original, so not to bad for a 1995 model with over 300,000ks. the radiator core fell to bits as I pulled it out, but some of the hoses were still ok, will take her for a good run tomorrow , Wonder if she'll go any faster?:))
Cheers Axle.

Mine was a bit of an upgrade on yours. '96 model. Front air vents never missed a beat.

G'day Axle, I reckon it will make a huge difference, possibly double the speed. Can you imagine yourself keeping up with the traffic in a 60 zone. ;)) Michael

Axle! You don't have to worry about keeping up with a TD 42 Nissan. Someone once said that you wouldn't use one as an anchor because it would be too slow to sink!!! Michael

There's a belief out there that Landrovers leak oil. Garbage! they don't leak oil - they are simply marking their territory.

If they're not leaking, just means that there's no oil left to leak

Hi Ian,
They might have no oil left but the old ones still keep on going.
I reassembled a 1962 Short a*se wreck back in 1988, saw it where I now live (850km from where I put it back together) last year, spoke to the current owner, still in daily use and apart from an axle replacement and regular servicing, nothing had been done to it.
That's LandRover longevity for you.
Disco.

I read once that 90% of rovers are still ''out there''
I think it was because most of them were ''failing to proceed''

Who said Landrovers are slow???
850 km in only 25 years...now that's motoring along, and probbaly only used a couple of sumps full of oil to achieve.....LOL.
Cheers

T.G.I.F (Thank God It's Friday)
otherwise I'd be offended by the constant adverse comments about LandRovers.
Now I accept that these comments are a response from total Toyota/Nissan brainwashing.
Don't forget that today is Friday.

G/Day Pop
Ah the landrover bashers!!......good ol English quality gets put down every time...lol, ...Funny thing is though my 4.7l V8 landcruiser has cost me more in six yrs for things going wrong than the defender has in 16yrs and it does a lot more work, the cruiser is only a shopping trolley smooth ,comfortable, quiet, a real pleasure to drive, but bloody expensive to own when everything is worked out.
But symbo won't have it any other way, as long as I keep my a''''se in the deefer all is good ...lol.
Cheers Axle.

On ya axle. I recently had my 1994 Tdi disco T boned and written off. It took a runaway car to finally kill it. over 300 000 km, all over qld and NT, towed a camper at 120kmh into the wind coming back from tenant creek to Mt Isa and never missed a beat. After it hit 15years of age i had to consider replacing tyres very carefully , as they were worth the value of the whole car. It wasn't exactly raring at the lights, but in the end i used to bang it up and down sidewalks , drive fully into the tip and generally treat it with less care than any poor car deserved. Oh wait it did have a fault , once it towed a loaded car trailer from Rocky to
Cairns and i had to replace a top hose...

Disco, Axle, humblest apologies guys, sorry if I offended.
OK, I will come out of the closet, the automotive closet that is.
Many years ago I owned a 1965 SWB Landrover.
There I said it, I feel much better now.
I worked on many when in the garage, including my own.
Now a few things that old Landy had that the contemporary and later Toyotas, Nissans, Jeeps etc did not have.
It had character. It had personality. It had a sense of humour and last but not least it had a mean streak. Oh the stories that could be told.
Cheers
