Fitting a <span class="highlight">Caravan</span> Cover

Hi all,
Just got an Aldi cover for the new van.
The old van had a smooth roof whereas this one has things sticking up all over the place.
What is a good method for getting the cover on and over these protrusions?
Its been taking me a long time to move ladders around and use a tent pole to lift the cover in small increments over before I pull it down.
Frustrating!

A person on each side with two log handled brooms.
Dont expect it to last longer than two years.

Tried that, but the cover is just too heavy to lift it high enough and drag it across the roof.
At the moment I fold it up into a sausage shape with the side walls on top, then pull it over the roof between the vents and unfold one side dragging lifting it over the TV aerial mainly. The other side doesn't seem to catch on the vents.
Lots of ladder moving though.

I put a cover on our old van and it only lasted 18 months.
When I removed it, there was damage done to the paint surface where it had rubbed even though I had firmly secured the cover with various ropes etc.
It was a PITA to put on and just as bad to take off.
I now don't bother, just give the van a good was every 6 months.
If you want to spend some money, try giving it a good polish to protect it.

Not that worried about the rubbing as I put the van into a carport with the cover on.
There is a bit of dust and moisture around so the van still gets dirty hence the cover. Also protects against the sunlight from the open sides of the carport.

If it is already under a carport, why not use shade cloth to make the walls, this will keep the dun out plus a lot of the dust etc.
Would be much easier than fitting a cover.

I put a cover over my
caravan inside my shed for dust protection. I fitted pulleys and ropes into the shed roof frame to lift the cover straight up and off, it stays up there until I return
home. As you have a carport you could look at something similar. A fair bit of work to set up then simple pull ropes and you are away. I used 6mm rope and dinghy pulleys and jam cleats pop rivetted to the wall.

Was going to suggest that.
Another option might have been a simple curtain walls with rails under the carport roof, to draw around the parked van.

I actually have a rough plan to do that but the cost and the fiddling around put me off!
May have to look at it again. It certainly would be a simple fit if its tied up properly.
I will get grief if I keep on getting up the ladder though!

I roll ours up inside out then lift it onto the van roof then roll it out using a straight edge we have . If you place it on the roof the right way , ie front to front back to back it is quite easy to unroll. it drops down all sides without lifting and pulling anything. The hardest part is carrying it up the ladder. Also I find it a lot easier to do it on my own. No stress
