Has anyone used the Walkers Crossing road between innaminka and Birdsville ? Will have to look at weather etc looking at going through early June
But thoughts on towing a van (17 ft off-road) through here
And estimated travel time by using walkers crossing
Or quicker going via cordillo downs road
Is walkers crossing quicker and a okay road

Thanks

Cordillo Downs would be faster I'd say in most circumstances.
You could tow the 17'er through Walkers ok, provided the road is open . . . but like Cordillo Rd, 'open' doesn't mean much sometimes.

If Walkers is open "Walkers Crossing PAR - 4WD vehicles only" as it is now, towing might be difficult with mud . . .

Or Cordillo - Inna as it is now "4WD - Open to 4WD vehicles under 3 tonne only (no towing)" then you technically can't tow on it legally, and if you did it might be again very difficult.

You should be ok June, as you say check things out then, and watch the weather.

Walkers Crossing is far quicker than going via Cordillo, although both routes have their appeals for me, but noting that Walkers Crossing is far quicker.

But hey, how fast do you want to travel - take time to smell the roses I say...

I would not envisage any problem towing a 17 foot off-road van via Walkers, just check track conditions before departing Birdsville.

There are oil/gas teams all through the Walkers Crossing area.
