Hi all,

We came across these structures in the middle of nowhere in the Goldfields region. There was nothing around them. Just these structures of star pickets with chicken mesh the top of them. There was absolutely no sign of any homestead or sheds around. Of the 8 brains that were on this trip, none of us could come to a conclusion of what they were or used for.

I recollect having seen similar out that way some years ago, but like you had no idea. I hope someone can shed some light.

marijuana drying racks. They are also at Gnabberdocking Rock and Mt Elvire station to name a few.

we did wonder that, but thought, well they aren't too well hidden, even though the track we were following hadn't been used in years, still thought an odd place, but yeh maybe it was, being there was the shade cloth around, maybe that was used to disguise them.

Hello

I have been reliably informed by a long time Goldfields resident that they are drying racks for wild dog baits. e.g. kill a camel, dice it up into suitably sized pieces, inject with 1080/Strychnine , let dry, then distribute.

Cheers
Greg
I sent one final shout after him to stick to the track, to which he replied “All right,” That was the last ever seen of Gibson - E Giles 23 April 1874

Thanks Greg, yes that does sound like what they'd be.

Thats a good point cause both Mt Elvire and Jaurdi stations were confiscated by the Court for drug trafficking several several years ago.

Nah nowhere near Jackson, Jaurdi or Elvire. I can't remember exact location, but was around the Lake Minigwal & Elora Mt Weld Road area.
