The smartbar, the ARB "plastic" bullbar looks ugly, that' s true, but I am tired to spend money just for the look and I decided to build up my new LC79 with a different approach.
I could close both eyes and go for the smartbar for the obvious positive reasons but it's not very clear to me the winch option limited to 10,000Lbs. Is the winch support not that strong? I read somewhere that vibrations are also a major issue.
Anyone had the nerve to install the plastic bullbar on the LC70? Impression? suggestions? I like to hear from real customers.
Cheers,Nick

Is your sole reasoning to go this way price driven?

Actually the smartbar is pretty expensive but very lightweight and i like the idea to keep the GVM low as much as I can. Toyota is really annoying lately with upgrades.
I understood the smartbar can offer a fair protection and I am ok with that, but I wish a reliable winch coupled with the bar.

Nick, I got a Smart bar for weight on my 200. Like you I thought the looks were not great.
After 4 years, I am completely immune to it and even think it looks ok. In fact, I hit a few things, and it bounces back to like new after a few months.
After 4 to 5 years a steel bullbar looks awful with chips etc but the Smart bar looks like new. And I save about 60Kg compared to the ARB bar.

I have a 16,500lb winch on the OKA. I don't have a bull bar. The winch cradle is attached directly to the chassis rails and is totally independent of the bumber bar..
