This is a long shot. Has anyone driven the Mereenie Loop (NT) in the last few days who can comment on its condition? I've read the NT road report, which says that it's open but to drive with caution due to water over the road. It's said that for over a week. A little over a week or so I saw vehicles that had just driven it and were absolutely bathed in mud, but the weather here has been good for the past week - mostly sunny - and you'd expect that it would have improved a lot over that time. I'm hoping to drive it tomorrow, and am not in the mood for another mud bath.

A guy on the Subaru forum did it over the weekend in a forester. The pics showed it roughly 1/2 white, 1/2 red when it got home. Drying out but certainly not dry.

Thanks, that's helpful, and while partly encouraging was not quite what I had hoped to hear. I was going to do it yesterday (Sunday) but for reasons unrelated to the condition of the road I deferred until today.

Did it today. As I expected, the road has pretty much dried out. There is a bit of water in a few places, but there are firm tracks around such mudholes. It's pretty rough and chopped up in places, and the usable track is down to single file in spots.

I’d been told that it was all sealed. Is that correct?

It's not, I can assure you. The West MacDonnells Loop (Namatjira and Larapinta Drives from Alice) are sealed, but the Mereenie Loop from just past Kings Canyon to the WDL is rough as guts dirt.
