Are the tracks between Tarcoola and Ceduna open to the public and has anyone travelled them lately. any feedback would be helpful as we are planning a trip.

Hi Mallee,
It is called Googes track and although I havent been for a couple years or so it is a good drive with about 200 sandhills like a mini simpson desert.
You are encouraged to travel from Sth to Nth but the trip is better the other way, as the track is badly cut up becausebleeps dont let there tyres down, but monitor channel 18 uhf and stop on top of some sandhillls to see who is coming to avoid a collision.
You can camp at Mt Finke, and Googs lakes and stop at googs memorial to get an overveiw of what googs was about.
The entrance at the top has been shifted and is not signposted I beleive and is hard to find , so I hope someone can help out there with a gps coordinate.
Have a good trip.

Cheers

Thankyou Pesty my home ground is the north west of vic the big desert and sunset country Most of the good sand track in my area have been closed to the public or have been destroyed by parks victoria who have cleared the trees to make big wide fire breaks and detoured all the big dunes to make life easy .like the border track now a easy sunny sunday drive, however I STILL LOVE GETTING OUT THERE

I have the GPS data for Goog's. I'm surprised no one has posted it to plotswap. Give me a couple of days and I'll post it for you.

Done. It's posted to Plotswap.

Have a look at this link from the Googs Track trek notes.

There is actually two tracks linked.
