We are heading to the area around Inverell (Asford, Emmaville, Bukkulla, Bonshaw) etc with three families (two camper trailers and a tenter). We are looking for a good caravan park to base ourselves in this area. While we do go bush camping we are not going down that track on this occasion. Any suggestions as to a good well appointed caravan park to base ourselves in for this trip?

Also, any experiences re: Mann River Caravan Park at Jackadgery?

Bundy,

I have not been there myself but I have an uncle who loves Copeton dam. Park there, maybe worth a look on the net for their details.

Take your blanky's this time of year.

Trevor.

Well don't miss the Tingha museum if it's still going, seen it way back in 1971 and it was different to what big cities have.

Hi Bundy,
we were with a group of 8 vans at Easter & the place was shockomg , however the new management was due there the following week , so I'm sure there have been improvements.
They would have had their work cut out as the outgoing m/ment had let it go. There were not enough taps for so we ended up linking 4 vans together off one tap. No pool , it was green. Amenities are basic but they were fairly clean. There is a good playgroung for the kids.
If your group has time a day trip to The Gorge is recommended,{no web site 02 6647 2173 }with the boat trip up to see the rapids well worth the hike to get there. The tinny can take you only so far.
It is a beautiful area, hope you all enjoy it. Barra man.

Yep its a loverly place here in the New England, BUT when where you planning to come???? Very rare for next couple months to not be below 0 degrees 6 out of 7 mornings!!!!!! The Western foreshores of Copeton Dam (20mins to Inverell) would be worth a look. It has a kiosk, golf, Fire pits, play grounds for the kids etc......

Lots of other places but are mostly bush camps....

Enjoy

3F62,
We are also heading down that way, early September. Have had a look at BOM websites to see climate averages etc, but always good to hear from someone who lives there..... What are temps like in September?

Cheers

G'day Brian, I'am @ Guyra which may not be the coldest place in NSW, BUT if you "stand up on your tippy toes you can see it from here". just made it to 6 deg today..... September can be a mixed bag, of seen snow here in November but generally the further west you go the warmer days you will have, ie 15 deg and windy here can be 22 deg & sunny only 50 k's west @ Copeton dam.

Cheers

In April we stayed at the Fossickers Rest Caravan Park, Lake Inverell Drive, Inverell. Excellent park, quiet, undercover BBQ.

Take a heater.
