Well the plan was to head to Fraser today! We woke up this morning in Caloundra to 30+ knkot winds and a heavy sky. Seas to 3m. After some discussion it was decided to postpone our trip until Wednesday. We'll still stay a week....the Engel is still loaded with enough food and beer for at least a week.
Anyway, if you had an open timetable would you have sat
home watching Doctor Phil or would you have gone? Would the waves be crashing in on the beach and running right up far enough that you would have to drive on the softer sand at the top of the beach?
With any luck the weather will be kind later in the week.
Cheers, Ben and Helen.

G/day B & H,i would rather be over there any day than sitting at
home or somewhere else watching that rubbish. At least over there you could be all zippered up in you're cosy little tent or what have you enjoying each others company.Lol.Then there's fishing hmm another story in high seas & strong winds but still better than crppola on TV.
Cheer's Bob.

Well with an open timetable I'm with you. Unless you were intending to
camp inland because the beach would be pretty miserable... No fishing.. Tent thrashing around... everything covered in salt spay... Yuck!
Or.... wait a few days.. beautiful clear sky.... gentle sea breeze... gentle wavelets plopping on the beach as you land another jewy.... Few beers around an imaginary campfire... ahhh...

Another vote for you Ben......
high winds + beach = grumpy-pretty-quickly .......
If you "had" to be there, might be different but with a few days at least up your sleave, much more comfortable to wait it out.
Cheers
Brian

When the weather is nice Fraser is nice.
When the winds are blowing and the waves are crashing into the shore it looks rather depressing. Better of to wait a week and enjoy Fraser at its best rather than trying to keep to a schedule.
Good luck

Its a bloody long way from
Perth to Fraser Ilsand. But one of these days we will hit the convoy of
grey haired nomads and head off to where ever our fancy takes. Spend the kids inheritcance before I fall off the perch - but Fraser is on the list of MUST DO before we do anything else.

Don't go to Frazer;
In the school holidays
Public holiday
On a long weekend
Any weekend
When the fishing comp,is on
When the buses are on the beach
When the planes land on the beach
If you have a Dog.
If the wind is over 15 knots
In the summer when it's hot
When the
dingo's are hungry.
When the hire 4x4's are there
and all the fools doing 110km past me fishing
Any other time is fine.

Ya big wuss! LOL
Did a similar thing a few weeks ago; started a trip with a stop-over in a cabin in a caravan park and the next day the weather turned sour. We were supposed to head to the coast and
camp but the rain was torrential. Image in my head of setting up
camp in rain with a baby and manic 5 y.o. and being tent-bound for a couple of days. Hmmm, didn't feel the need to prove myself as a 'great adventurer' and stayed in the cabin 'til the rain eased.
