What is a hiclone..............lol

Yes I have and it did make some diference in my hilux in the Patrol they actualy took at out when they did the dyno tune and they told me it doesn't do jack....

Some people say they work other don't. It's a bit like the fridge or tyre debate

Cripes, this will open up a bag of worms. They have been the subject of several discussions on this site so Type in hiclone in the search section it should bring up a fair amount of discussion.

In early 2005 I put a pair in my 1997 series 80 Landcruiser 4.5l petrol.
The reason I took the chance apart from the money back guarantee was

Case 1:-
My new offroad caravan (along with the additional crap you take along for bush camping) weighed 1000kg more than my old (1997) Roadstar highway van.
I live near Batemans Bay NSW and any western travel means going up Clyde Mountain towards Canberra. The old setup pulled it in second gear while the heavier rig (6500kg - see my rig photos) relegated me to first gear.
Unhappy with being a pain in the arse to my following travellers I installed the Hiclones and on the second ascent and pulled it all in second gear!
I saw no improvement in fuel economy but the uphill performance was very noticeable.

Case 2:-
In May & June of 2006 I did the Anne Beadell & Connie Sue Hways, The Great Central Rd, Mereenie Loop Rd, Palm Valley & Boggy Hole, and any and every thing on dirt within 150km of Alice Springs & The Old Ghan Railway Line.
With a gross weight of 5000kg including the off road trailer we averaged 5km/ltr (20ltr/100km) and most of the trip was occasional 1st, often 2nd, generally 3rd and yehah! 4th gear running.
We drove conservativley cruising at 90 km on bitumen.
At one stage we did 1350km from Coober Pedy to Warbuton (on sand roads & going over 1000 minor sand dunes) on 250 ltrs and never got out of 3rd gear except on the Emu bomb site airstrip. I would not have acheived this with a juice guzzling petrol Toyo without the Hiclones.

My point to this confession is that Hiclones cant deliver any noticeable benifits to a vehicle that is coping easily with what is expected.
My old magnificent Polar Bear works its butt of to fulfil my demanding expectations.
My pair of Hiclones deliver extra performance if that suits my mood (99% of the time) or if I am conservative (the other 1%) fuel economy- you cant have both.

They work for me.

Think and then THINK again , What does the turbo do ??? ohh no !! it compresses the air intake post air pipes where a Hyclone would have to be fitted , what is a Hiclone suppossed to do , "swirl " the intake air ,, total waste of money and the tin used to make them , dont you think the billions of $ spent on research and developement by vehicle manufacturers would have by now made the Hiclone a standard fitting if it actually did anything usefull , THINK.

Chip it instead if you can.

Installed 2 in my 3l Patrol and immediately noticed smoothe idling and the turbo boosted some 300rpm earlier in the rev band. Also noticed a small improvement in fuel economy too. Mate did the same (2 of) in his 2.5 td Defender Extreme and noticed exactly the same. Work for some and bagged by others.

Ferrari use a similar arrangement in the intake of their F1 cars to "swirl" the fuel air mixture, if its good enough for a prancing horse its good enough for a dancing patrol.
