Hi,
Anyone else downloaded the Shonkymaps for their Garmin?

Site Link

I have an Etrex Legend CX and was using the free version of Tracks4Australia. I have just downloaded these Shonkymaps. I haven't been anywhere yet but by comparing them in Mapsource they seem to be more detailed than T4A.

They are free to download but it is over 300meg.

Yes I've had them for over 18 months now. I know the guy who made them.
They are great.

Hi SA,
Tell him thanks next time you see him.
I went for a drive today to a mountain in the middle of nowhere and tried the maps out. So far they seem better than the T4A maps that I was using. Roads seemed to be the same, but more extras, trig points, creeks, farm houses etc.

Eric,
I downloaded them into my Etrex using Garmin Mapsource. I assume the quest would be the same. Very easy to do, have a go & see what you think of them.

Had a look at them last night and was impressed with what info was provided. I have not seen T4A pro so could not comment on any differences.

This has more info than T4A pro, only thing it won't have is the newer tracks people send in, but who knows when the next version of T4A will come out.

Shonkymaps will go on any Garmin GPS that takes maps.

It's a lot to download, over 400 megs
