If you already have a CPAP, why not just use a 240 volt with Inverter. Should run successfully off your car battery for a night. They don't draw a lot of power, use my thus and never had a problem with flat battery overnight. Otherwise check with suppliers of various machines they vary greatly in price - the dearest is n't necessarily the best. They all conform to required specifications. I use a Sullivan brand. If you have private health you might find they will provide you with some cover. Mine up to $1,200.00 covered the full price.

Not necessarily preferred but run a Resimed on 12V and no problems. Never measure amp draw but fridge and fluro light also are in the equation and can cope with overnight draw. Cheers

I use a SoloPlusLX from Respironics. I got it early in 2000 so it may not be a curtrent model now. It uses less than 1 amp while running and about 3 on start up. It has a 12volt input. Only problem I have had on 12v was initially I ran a long (maybe 20feet) lead from the 4wd battery and it was hesitant about starting. Problem solved by moving the vehicle close to the tent and using a shorter lead. I also have run it for 3 nights on a Projecta Jump starter (17ah battery). It was flat after the third night so I estimate that it used about 5 amps each night. It would run many nights on a typical 4wd battery.
It has a control which runs it at less than its operating pressure for the first 20 minutes or so - I always use that and would be sure to get that if I ever have to replace this one. I've used it every night since getting it - many times on 12 volts in the bush - wouldn't leave home without it!!

Gronk, basically stops you from snoooring and having apnea's, (momentary stop breathing while you asleep) they make you sleep all night as they force air into yer lungs at a pre-set pressure.

Tis the best thing my gf has said I own, but she knows nuthin about solar panels, batteries an fridges lol

Mainey, I know one guy who without one has oxygen saturations of 55% when 93-95% is normal. He must be nearly dead while sleeping like that.

240v Resmed Autoset Spirit to provide a compliance history. It needs a 300w sine wave inverter if you need a humidifier and users most do. The battery useage depends how long you sleep. I am not a sparky so I won't do the calcs for you. You can email or phone me Mainey, with info at the Rig Pic

John, have hired a resmed Autoset Spirit for a week, they are dead quiet and small compared to some other brands I've looked at, eg; Sullivan.

May settle on a Resmed S8 AutoScore as can't see the benefit of the 'Autoset' facility, or am I missing something ??

I understand they both run off a 12v converter although I've presently got the 300wt Inverter installed, maybe I should run a power loss comparison test, naaah :-))

Mainey, the Autoset Spirit starts at a low pressure and only goes to the pressure required when monitoring episodes, it actually boosts to ovecome the apnoea episode. That way it isn't going full charge all the time. It monitors your sleep.

I mentioned compliance history above. You know that having been diagnosed with apnoea, you are seen as a potential risk. If you do have an accident and haven't been using your machine, you could be seen as not covering your risk by an insurer. The Resmed machine actually keeps track of a years data, but analysis for the last week too. It covers your compliance period very well. If you don't use it well .........

Be prepared to use an humidifier though, as you can get inflamed nasal passages and hyper allergies.

Some see it as a stigma, others a supercharger for their sleep and recovery. Make sure you find it the latter.
