Footloose
Looks like a rough trip. Good to see the old bush spirit is still alive!
Have to say, those ant hills are the biggest I've ever seen.
Regards
Kim

We have bigger ones! Can't understand why my daughter calls the place a "rat's nest ".

Couldn't you find any caves or tunnels to make him feel at
home ?
I also notice that you were wearing jackets and no thongs in sight :))

The hardest bit was every sentence starting with "in New Zealand..."
I think he's on a retainer from their tourism board.
I know of a few caves, but he'd want to drive through em :))

One of 'his' tunnels is in my pics. They were dug by gold miners to divert a stream in 'the old days'.

Kiwi, yep, seen the movie, heard the commentary :))
Now he wants me to do the trip over there.
Have to admit that the experience would be different. In fact this experience was different...decent bed at night, no fires or camping to worry about. I asked him what I could do on tracks where there's no motel. He rekkons, "build one ! " hhehehehe

In his backyard it would be almost impossible to be more then an hour from a motel ! He does tag alongs so you maybe could go along as crew, they go to some really neat
places.

Yep, he's really good at spotting a good motel.
He offered me a job as guide earlier this year but I had to say no. Imagine me trying to tell a customer where we were .." somewhere between South America and Ozzie, mate."

Great story Footie, loved the pics , felt like I was there , or wanted to be there.
Thanx again mate, the Simmo may forever remain elusive to me.

Bonz, once you have desert fever it never goes away. I sincerely hope that you get to come to grips with the Simpson. It's a great place.

It might seem a long way off, but as you know, life is full of surprises. Not all are bad.
