I've just read a previous thread 56664 about the braking noise which is now archived.
I've just had the same issue on my 02 NM (95k kms) and have had the local dealer tell me I need to replace the HBB unit at a cost of $2684 + labour
Has anyone else had the problem ?
How was it resolved ? Costs ?
Would
Donks1 still have a copy of the dealer notice ?
Would appreciate your comments / help

I'm not familiar with the booster problem but we had a terrible screech from our NM brakes at around 98k!
Replaced the rear pads, they have a metal clip designed to screech & warn when then pads are thin!
If its the bosster I imagine you would get the noise when stationary! Our noise was only when reversing!

I was noticing the booster noise before replacing the rear pads and it has continued. You're correct we are getting the noise without moving so it appears to be in the brake booster. The local service agent is trying to get Mitsubishi to cover even though we're out of warranty because of the (relatively) low km's, we're the original owner, had always had it serviced at Mitsub, and the fact we've had 3 Mitsubs before. Will be interesting to see what comes out of it !!

Mitusb have agreed to cover the full cost of replacement of the brake booster unit ($2685 + lbr) under warranty even though it's a 6 year old vehicle. Very impressed and will stick with the triple diamonds.
Goes to show you should ask the question

yes i still have the bulletin. i can email it to you if you like. the price you have been quoted is about right and reasonably common. did you have the initial recall done to replace the accumulator???

I haven't had a recall before.
The service agent has gone back to Mitsubishi to ask if they will agree to cover it as warranty but I'm not too sure how'll I'll go with this.

Some good news FYI which confirms my faith in Mitsubishi.
Mitsubishi has agreed to replace the booster unit under warranty (notwithstanding it's now a 6 year old vehicle).
