Hey,

Looking at upgrading the dirty old 90 model lux to something a little more flashy. Would love to get a d4d hilux but just can't afford one. Was looking at the d22 nav but seems to be too many stories of the ZD30 going BANG. Any opinions on the RA rodeo dual cab?

Mostly will be used for day to day commuting and regular beach driving, but will be (hopefully) be doing a trip to the cape next year and other fun places in the future.

Petrol or diesel does not really bother me, though would probably rather a diesel.

Any feedback would be awesome.

Sorry the part about the beer was a lie :)

Damn no free beer.
Had a RA LT about 2 to 3 years ago, fantastic vehicle, had the V6 the petrol version went like a bullet but very heavy on fuel.
I suppose you could afford the fuel seeing as your not supplying free beer.

I own two RA's, the elder is a 2003 LX 3.0L 4x4 man space cab pick up, and the young 'un is a 2005 LT 3.0L 4x4 man space cab pick up. Both have alloy bull bars, GME UHF's and 27MHz CB's, a 15L Engel fridge within the cab and a 30L Engel fridge in the back, also both have ARB Air lockers in the front, the 2003 LX now has the new ARB air compressor whilst the LT still has the original ARB air compressor.
The LX has a tunit module whilst the LT in early January will get a Safari D'tronic. Speaking of Safari, the LT has a Safari Snorkel and the LX has the Airtech, although if I could have chosen, they would both have the Safari snorkel.
The LX has a Brown Davis 120L fuel tank and the LT has the ARB 129L fuel tank.
I do have a mate with a 2006 RA petrol V6 auto 4x4 and he is not happy that the trailer he tows is purely for a 1200L petrol tank so that he can do a 400km round trip.
I had both of my RA's up to Alice Springs last year, from Quorn to Marree, William Creek, Oodnadatta, Dalhousie Springs, Abminga, Finke, Rodinga, Chambers Pillar and then into Alice Springs. Both RA's running between 8.0-8.5L/100km, then both up to 10L/100km for the sprint back down the black top to Port Augusta.
Yeah, I think I am pretty happy with my RA's. I would like to replace the older LX, only because it has a 2T towing capacity, which is borderline legal with my 2T boat. Either Holden Colorado or Isuzu D-Max, which ever is first to stock a 3.0L 4x4 man space cab pick up will gain my custom, although I've always been GMH aligned, if they won't stock the new vehicle I want and IsuzuUte do, that's where I'll go.
That amount of typing has at least got to be worth a shandy, c'mon.

Sounds like your pretty happy with them!

Good to know they are capable of doing the big trips.

And I'll see what I can do with the shandy :) haha

Thanks for your input
