Hi All, Thanks for your previous comments about my Diesel Economy. Just a quick update, I took my 2 Hiclones out over the weekend and today I just returned from Albury all up around 750 km. Driving at 110 kph, bull bar and roof rack I achieved 12.47 Lt/100Km. This is the best result I have had for sometime. I see some of you are still getting much better results than this but it is a start.

My inter cooler fan is being wired in tomorrow and a catch can next weekend. So we will see how it all goes then.

All the best,

Iceman.

Do you mean to say that you taken out 2 hiclones and now you get a better fuel economy?

Hi Nomadoz, yes over almost 49,000 Km my average was 14.88 Lt/100Km. This a couple of trips to the High Country and Grampians with aggressive Mud terrain tyres.

One trip isn't a summer but it was certainly interesting.

Have you put in the correction for the bigger tyres?

I upgraded from 29" to 32" on the paj (I know 32" are not that big these days!), and found my speedo is under reading by 5% after a GPS check. So at 10l/100k that is 0.5l/100k better economy than I first work out. At 13l/100k, that is 0.65l/100k better than it first seems.

Hi Oldplodder,

This trip was on the 17 inch tyres that were standard with the Patrol when I bought it. I did a comparison previously with my 285 R16 75 and found a 2% difference.

You must have the northern hemisphere hi clones!

Those would be swirling the air backwards to the way the bernouli effect wants to swirl the air in the southern hemisphere.

Simple enough mistake to make.

Sadly - just inserting them upside down doesn't reverse the direction of air flow.

Did you have the rare earth neodymmium magnet on your fuel line to align the fuel molecules in the diesel for a more even/ better burn?

The Hiclones cannot perform their work efficiently if the fuel hasn't been correctly molecularly aligned in the fuel line prior to injection.

I'd be contacting the hiclone manufacturer / agent about returning / swapping those two northern hemisphere hiclones for a pair of southern hemisphere hiclons desgned to take advantage of the bernouli effect in the southern hemisphere.

Cheers!

You forgot to mention that with the southern hiclones you also must have racing air in the tyres and a triple chromed dipstick before any benefit in fuel usage can be achieved,,
You do realize that a lot of readers will not notice the position of your tongue!!!!
What is it exactly that you are trying to say Royce?

That readers are unable / not well eductaed enough / incapable of recognising, the posters intent at good natured sarcasm or light hearted tongue in cheek leg pulling, without the use of some emoticons to convey the proper body language associated with the post?

First I've ever heard of that! Perish the thought.

Cheers
