Hi Duane,
I bought a gennie of ebay last year - 1kva unbranded chinese job, $600 with postage.
It has not worked since the day I got it and got stuffed around about postage costs to send it back until 30 days had passed and was told, and I quote "out of warranty so hard luck" by the seller.
For an extra $400 I could have bought a name brand gennie with good warranty in
perth.
I know this doesn't answer the above question, but I have heard so many horror stories about major purchases off fleabay, if your only saving a couple of hundred $ perhaps you might like to look at some of the cheaper brands for sale in WA with dealer back up and warranty? Kipor/genquip etc. I think genquip does a 3kva pure sinewave for about $1400.
just a thought.
regards, Keith

I have a 2KVA brought on E.Bay and after 60 hours no problems, cost $356 plus freight.
Do as Derek says and read their feed back carefully, doing this I have never had a problem with purchases on E.Bay
