The last time I was in
Lightning Ridge was about four months ago and every van park in town was full. Our car was a ute with a camper and they would not even accept that. We went out to
Lorne Station and loved it. It does not have a pool as has already been said but the atmosphere is fantastic. It has
miles of
open space.
Camp fires are allowed beside your van plus there is a community fire/barbie area with people sitting around it talking each night. It could possibly be described as a three star van park but a five star
camping area.
The road in is a bit rough and would be a challenge to any vehicle, 4bs included, in wet conditions.
My wife and I will go back there every time we are in the area but if you are looking for top of the range luxury then it would not suit you.

Hi, Stayed at the Gwider C/van Park at Mooree a couple of weeks ago, very good and the thermal pools were great.
A bit out of town but have a store and a fast food outlet on site,
Cheers Des.

Hi, Only C/P in the Ridge with
the pool is Crocodile C/P and it is OK. but your best bet would be the one in the town "
Lightning Ridge Caravan Park ". It is located just around the corner of the best pool you have ever seen. It's a five star pool and it is great for the kids of all sizes as it is a Olympic size pool. Artesian
Bore Baths are fantastic and very clean. Many things to see and do but best is to visit the Tourist Centre and they will give you all the info on things to see and do while in the Ridge. Weather is OK [ high 20 ] Over all is a interesting place to visit. Enjoy it.....

not sure where your comin from/to, but dont go near dubbo.. bloke on patrol
forum had 5000 of camera gear taxed few weeks ago, and 7 other cars were broken into.. cops couldnt give a toss, neither could van park owners... It was the poor indodgyness people. apparently there is no point charging them...

We have just passed through LR and had an enjoyable time.
As it was at the end of a long trip out to Lake Eyre we stayed for 3 nights in some great cabins called Fossickers in town. Lots of room and fenced for the kids.
The pool is fantastic. Olympic sized and a water park with lots of fountains, wave pool , slides etc. Our kids had a great time although water was freezing as it had just opened and weather not too warm.
You can fossick thru piles of
rock at the info centre which is free, and you can find bits of opal if you are lucky. You can do the car door tours which dont take long and give you an idea of the town. There is a walk in
mine which you can tour- interesting but pricey. The artesian baths were lovely - do late afternoon when sun has set otherwise way too hot.

I would be a bit reluctant to use the artesian baths.
I know that people with nasty skin diseases use this bath and it would be a good place to avoid.
