Firefighters and three aircraft are working to slow a fire that is expected to threaten three houses on the Thunderbolts Way, 10 km south of
Inverell near Howell Road, Gilgai this afternoon.
Two fire trucks have been situated at each house to undertake property protection. Three waterbombing aircraft are working to slow the spread of the fire.
Under the current weather conditions fires can be difficult to control and embers may be blown ahead of the fire and create spot fires that can threaten earlier than the predicted main fire front.
Spot fires can occur up to 2km ahead of the main fire.
