Hello again
We're off to Leonora and Laverton just after New Years and we were thinking
of heading out to Lake Rason.Does any one know what the road condition
is like.I imagine it will start to warm up out there soon.

Hi Norm
We were through that last in August. We have been following the weather since the trip, with no large amounts of rain out that way. It is a good drive, with lots to see along the way. When you get to Laverton, drop into the Great Beyond, it is well worth the visit there. The road out towards Burtville is in top condition, while beyond you will have no issues. Make sure you drop into Mallee Hen Rocks, and the Breakaway country is very interesting.

Have a great trip

Cheers

Stephen

Thanks for the reply Stephen
I thought the roads would be fairly good.
Looking forward to getting out there and having a look

Norm

I am presuming you are talking about the east west main road south of Lake Rason.

As Stephen says the road should be in reasonable cond. There has been lots of mining traffic in the area - they have been drilling and testing - so the roads are in a lot better shape than they have been for years.

Hi Norm

Doing any gold detecting out that way? It looks like promising country.

(I won't tell a soul.)

You can't see the Laverton water tower from there Warwick :).

good road to Lake Rason from Laverton with some nice country and old ruins at Burtville. Are you heading south from there or back to Laverton. the road south to Plumridge can be a bit rough if there has been rain. you also have the mining starting up between Rason and Plumridge with lots of exploration tracks in that area.

We will probably head back to Laverton as we are on a time limit.
I've been thinking of doing the Connie Sue Hwy next year and would look at going to Plumridge Lakes on that trip

Gday Norm,
You might want to keep an eye on the track of Cyclone Laurence. Forecast is to head out towards Giles so may drop some rain in the region.
Cheers

cyclones generally need to cross in the NW to bring significant rain to that region

Sorry mate. I thought that's what was forecast. Looks like the track map is showing heading to the interior. No drama.
