Hi everyone,

We normally make a few trips to Adelaide every year to catch up with friends, and we have a few days off in November so thought this was a great chance to get back there.

Normally we stay with friends, but this time we want to take the camper trailer, and would really like to take the dogs with us.

Does anyone know of any spots near Adelaide that are good for dog-friendly camping? Preferably low cost/bush camping, but a nice caravan park isn't out of the question...

Cheers,
Kaz

Windsor Gardens will take dogs and is close to Adelaide, about 10" drive, and not to expensive.
There is a park nearby and a 9 hole golf course just over the busway bridge.
Been there several times and can recommend them.

Its only a small park so you must book.

Jeff.

Just looking at my trusty bible - "Bush Camping With Dogs" the closest listing they have to Adelaide is the Kutipo Forest - seems to be about 40-50kms south of Adelaide on Brookman RD. The number for the info centre (Bookings advised) is (08) 8391 8800 or go to the website www.forestry.sa.gov.au. Have a good trip!!!

Miniac,

We use the Nuriootpa CP in the Barossa. I guess that fits your requirement for "near Adelaide" but perhaps not near enough at 75 km. There is a new freeway part of the way that might bring the trip down from 1.5 hours?

Highly recommend this CP as well as the surrounding wineries.

Cheers

On the north side, you can also camp at Mt Crawford State Forest.
Forsetry SA website

But both Kuitpo and Mt Crawford are closed to camping Dec-Mar

Just be aware that Mt Crawford Forest is closed to camping during the fire season, so check first (about mid Nov usual cut off date).
I can thoroughly recommend Jetty Caravan Park at Normanville: dog friendly; right on the beach; but not exactly a suburb of Adelaide (more like an hour away).

The caravan park inside the Belair National Park allows pets I understand, believe it or not...........
20 minutes from the CBD.

Another good dog friendly caravan park is at McLaren Vale, just to the south of Adelaide. We use it whenever we go to Adelaide and have enjoyed it each time.

Wow - there are quite a few great options there! I'll consult with hubby and see what we want to do.

We're not too worried how far out of Adelaide we are. We have friends to catch up with all over the place, and usual venture everywhere from McLaren Vale to the Barossa anyway. Maybe we can give a couple of places a try?

Thank you all very much- I appreciate the info greatly.
