G'day Matt K

You will probably need longer shocks but before you go down this path you should check with the RTA but probably more importantly your insurance company as I believe that longer than factory fit shackles are not legal in NSW....with or without and engineering certificate. You will get an initial idea from THIS RTA DOCUMENT - see page 4 but best to check directly with those who make the decisions.

Hi Matt,

Can’t speak as to the legality but I know my insurance has covered both the shackles and the suspension mods and they are listed on my policy.

I’ve found them to be a boon in gaining that extra height I needed under the tray. You will need extended shocks and I would also suggest ensuring that your leaf springs are suitable. They may need an extra leaf or two fitted. Because of the weight I carry at times, I’ve also added a set of firestone bellow type airbags to assist load carrying. I’m using the Snake Racing shackles.

Cheers Mick

First, you'll find the 78/79series shackles are 23mm longer than the 75series if you want an option thats not too aggressive, and theres a chance you'll pick up a set for nothing. I don't know whether the 78/79series rear shackles will fit the 75series fronts as well, but can't see why not.

The aftermarket shocks for 2" lift are extend about 40mm longer than standard. If you fit shocks that are any longer than this, you'll need to extend the brake lines.

Matt,
Make sure you adjust the rear brake compensator now you have a lift and possibly longer shackles. It will help to regain a bit of braking especially when the load is light. The unit is on the drivers side just above the rear axle. Mode of adjustment is covered on the LCOOL website. If you want an outline then send me a MM.
cheers
