Gday
My brother is going to fit hiclones to his GU 3ltr . What do I say to stop him wasting his money?
I don't want to start a discussion by people who have not used them . Is there any thing positive from people that have used them?

Gday Hairs and Bob
I did read google for about an hour, and found that the only people with a good thing to say about them , are the people that sell them. Thanks for your replies .

There has been a heap of technical info on here over the last few years showing how they do not work. I'm sure it would come up in a search. Cheers,Bob

Let him go,once they are convinced they are going to save money, nothing you say will change his mind.

Or ask him to explain the science behind them(after you have studied up on them)

As a word of warning, tell him not to fit any more than 3 or 4 depending on whether it is a turbo or non turbo diesel or a petrol. Some doubters may scoff but my BIL's mates boss fitted too many and got booked for some pollution offence. Seems as he was driving along the fuel tank was overflowing out the breather and leaving fuel all over the road. Luckily he had a couple of empty jerry cans and managed to drain nearly 40 litres out to get him home.

I have two in mine Muz and I found that they lowered the revs at which boost started and the car ran much smoother. Hiclone have a money back warranty, I suggest that he get this in writing and then if not happy then take em back.

MKate with a TD Landrover 110 had two fitted that same day and reported the same results. There was also a test but a car mag about 8.3 years ago and they found a marginal improvement with two fitted and negligible with one fitted.

Why would it begin to boost at lower rpm with a hiclown fitted?
Was the magazine test a "seat of the pants" test ,or on a dyno?
Did they accept advertising contracts from Hiclone?

These things are really easy to test when you have the right equipment and no one has ever given them the thumbs up.

I know a diesel mechanic who has tested them on his dyno to show customers what a load of bull they are.
Dyno results dont lie.

I dunno why Ross, all I know is what it does. Actual experience in my car.

The mag test was a tested circuit in the same vehicle with none one and two hiclones fitted. Of course every magazine article is written with some of the payola from the crowd getting their equipment tested (if thats what you are inferring), so I can not vouch for their impartiality, but I can for mine. Dunno how it works but it does seem to. In two vehicles, different makes, both turbo diesel.

The mechanic at the place that fitted thenm was sold on them, he had fitted a couple to a XR Falcon and it made a huge difference. And I saw no evidence of payola in his pockets.

They claim to reduce fuel consumption by 20%

So get him to buy buy 5 and run for free forever. ROFLMAO

If they were so good manufacturers would already use them.

LOL..! How about 6 and he will end up with fuel in his tank re-occurring.!

Tell him to invest in the Pyramid Scheme at the same time, he will make thousands and not have to worry about Cyclones and Hyclones..!

Muzbry,
Take it from me, THEY DON"T WORK, fitted them to our cruiser when the tax man was paying for certain "improvements" and we have not noticed any difference.
As has been said if your bro wants to waist his hard earnt cash, let him go.
Cheers

Get your brother to explain how the Hiclone is supposed to work , IE: Supposed to create swirl in the airflow to better the fuel air mix , then ask him how a fixed blade system such as the Hiclone can actually do that when it has to be fitted between the TURBO and the intake manifold , yeah right ,if anything a Hiclone will RESTRICT the airflow post turbo negating the turbo boost , The only way people save fuel after they fit a Hiclone is due to their false belief and a slight lifting of the right foot.

If they don't work for him ( and I'm sure they wont ) I think I have an old "Energy Polariser" left over from the Brock days he could try!?
Sorry, don't mean to be sarcastic, but hell, I thought everyone woke up to these cons years ago!
