Hi,

I am considering buying an ED series 50L evakool fridge which is about 3 yrs old,
Are they any good and are there any issues with them that I should be aware of? They look a more compact unit but then it is an outdated fridge...unsure what to do.

Any help would be appreciated

Thanks

Not sure what an ED series is, but we have had our 70L Evakool for 5 yrs and it has never let us down. Really handy to have the option of half fridge, half freezer, or all fridge or all freezer. Daughter borrowed ours last week when she was defrosting her house freezer.

From what little I know about them it is the series where the motor is built into the unit (like engel, waeco) and not added onto the end like the current model

Garry you can adjust the thermostat to give you more temperature range. There is a tiny screw on the side of the thermostat. Cannot remember if you screw it in or out. Phoned evaKool at the time and they told me which way.

There is two grub screws that can be adjusted on the thermostat in the Evakool fibreglass units, if you would like to know how please email me at brodie@evakool.com and I can email or fax you a sheet showing how.

I've had an evakool for about 11 years now and it is just great, in temps up around 50 it still freezes down to -12.

Did have a little issue with a high resistance in the built in fuse but replaced it with a blade fuze and no more problems. I also replaced the plug with an anderson just to keep everything compatible with all the other gear.

G'day we've had the 47L for several years now - no problems at all. Fridge doubles as a seat when we have guests while camping, and sometimes as a step to get into the campertrailer. Very strong, beautifully insulated AUSTRALIAN made fridge!
Buy it and be happy with your choice!

Had an ED40 for 10 years. Replaced fuse holder and adjusted thermostat. Like the all fibre glass and good insulation.
