Have recently purchased oziExplorer CD and CE upgrade. I have installed CE onto my HP RX5765 PDA, which has Sirfstar GPS receiver. i cant seem to get it to pick up a signal. Had a look in the book that came with the PDA..can't find the information to correctly configure the GPS for OziExplorer...Has anyone got one of these and if so could you help a tecnologically challenged person out...any help would be greatly appreciated....

Thanks

Does the PDA have abuilt in GPS ?
If it does,,,then the PDA needs to talk to it,,,,go into Ozi- FILE-configuration-NMEA(GPS),,,,,find the port that will let the streaming start,
Page comes up with three tabs.....Port Settings
Other
SIRF
Use the Port settings tab and simply scroll through each com port till the GPs start talking...:) Do each port, one at a time, till you get a location fix on your map.....
mine works on COM4.
AT least that is what i had to do with my Garmin i-que.....:)
I have not activated my sirf side of the GPS signal.
Hope this helps.

ozie is only looking for the NMEA output from the gps.
is the port set in FILE-NMEA(GPS)=PORT SETTINGS ON THE PDA?
also, you might need to stop any other program that is using the NMEA data, which i assume is on the pda as well.
baud rate 4800?

Yes, Com4 is a common port for GPS input. You should be able to check the PDA to see which port its using.

Apart from this, check in OziExplorer under File - Configuration - GPS and make sure you select NMEA Only as the GPS type. Baud rate 4800.

If your PDA runs Windows Mobile you should have a GPS Info application you can select also.
